P173 BEEBFAX 122 Thu 31 Dec --:--/--                                                                                                            Wimbledon's men's singles was won this  year by John McEnroe in his only Grand  Slam win of the year.  He defeated New Zealander Chris Lewis  6-2, 6-2, 6-2. Yanick Noah won the  French Open, defeating Mats Wilander  in straight sets.  Wilander didn't leave the year empty  handed however, having won the first  Slam of the year in Australia,  defeating Ivan Lendl.     Tennis   Next       Prev       Home        End
