This remarkable  device was the first really affordable  home computer.  He followed this up in 1981 with the  Sinclair ZX-81 which was sold at  £49.95 in kit form and £69.95  ready-built, by mail order.  A tremendous success - 250,000 ZX-81's  had been sold within a year when in  April of 1982 he announced the ZX  Spectrum at a rock bottom price of  £125 for the 16 KB RAM version and  £175 for the 48 KB version at the  Earls Court Computer Fair.    News Headlines 1O1  Contents 100   Next       Prev       Home        End
